Case Description
Hi, I fell down as an accident two days ago. I had a bridge on the upper right side as shown in the drwaing below and as a result of the accident it became so loose then came out when I was washing my mouth. I went to a local clinic that works on weekends because I was afraid..the dentist reput the bridge with temporary cement so I can eat normally. The left side of the bridge procelain(closer to the front teeth) broke off and some of the met al (maybe) is clear like black dots/spots..it's like the whole bridge was of metal and covered with procelain..I am not sure or expert...My question is do I need to replace the whole bridge? Can I just repair the one crown that broke off? just cover that tooth and ofcourse reput some permanent cement? what options do I have and how much is the estimate cost for each of them? also how long does it take to repair? Thank you so much

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hi. Usually in cases like this, it is best to replace the bridge, rather than try to repair it. Porcelain repairs generally do not work well, as the material that is used for the repair is different than the porcelain used to make the bridge and sometimes it breaks off again. With respect to the teeth under the bridge, I would be curious to know if they were damaged as a result of your accident. You need to have a careful examination of these teeth, as well as x-rays. It is difficult to give an estimate without actually seeing the situation. If you would like to call my office and schedule an appointment, I would be happy to take a look and give you an estimate.

Dear Patient,I agree with my colleague that replacing the bridge is a better option. Porcelain repairs are very unpredictable and often have early failures. Also, for a permanent bridge to get dislodged in an accident it is highly possible that there may damage to the supporting teeth. However, it is important to examine the condition of the existing bridge. It MAY be possible to just recemnt the bridge with permanent cement if: supporting teeth are not damaged, the bridge appears to be intact and it fits well. This may "buy you" some time if feasible.Eyad Haidar DMD, CAGS in Prosthodontics

Hello Patient,There is an alternative way to correct your problem as long as there is no damage to the teeth that support your bridge.I will happily provide a consultation at no charge. Only then can I offer a definitive opinion.Good Luck

Thank you for the email. Sorry to hear about your accident. It is difficult to answer your good questions without seeing you for an exam, but I would say, it is best to replace the bridge as repairs seldom work the way they original bridge does. It is not just the bridge itself, but also the condition of the teeth the bridge is anchored to. I would be happy to perform an examination and provide you with a treatment plan if you wish. Please feel free to contact Scott at my office at 617-868-4046 and he would be happy to reserve time for you so we can get you back to your healthy self!
