Case Description
Hello, 5 months ago I did a root canal on tooth #7 and soon I would have to do an oral surgery (apicoectomy). I would not need a filing or anything else, only the surgery on the gum. The estimates I am getting are around #1,000. My dentist said should not cost more than #500 (to his opinion - his is not doing oral surgeries). Can someone give me an estimate? Also, I trust my dentist but this root canal that failed make me think that I should take a second opinion. How much that will cost? How much will cost a general consultation (with the current x-rays) since I have more dental work to do in 2008? Thanks, Georgia

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $ No Estimate at this time. Additional information required.
Hello,

the fee for the apicoectomy sounds about right. However, I would definitely seek a consultation to determine if there is an alternate treatment available.

I would happily provide a consultation for you at no charge.
