Case Description
I was recommended a few procedures and quote. (1) Deep scaling, full mouth, 21 sites need Arestin - $2067; (2) Root canal and crown for #19 - $2768; (3) Amalgam 1 surface for #17 - $115. I am a graduate student, and don't have dental insurance. The procedures sound very expensive to me. Is it normal rate? Would a dental plan help with it? Thanks a lot for your expertise.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:

Dental insurance is alot like a coupon for dental work. As long as you go to a dentist who participates with a plan, your cost will be lower, but that is not the best way to choose a dentist.
