Case Description
Major periodontal disease that has been festering for several years. Have visited three periodontists (including 1 graduate university), but because of the lack of a clear plan of action, uncertainty and my own fears...I have not moved forward. Time is not on my side. One of my front top teeth have shifted drastically, to the point where it is literally sticking out of my mouth....I have significant pockets in all teeth where eating is not ever a pleasing event.....I have frequent abcesses, all over...at least every other month, sometimes 2-3 per month. I went to see an orthodontist with the hopes of correcting the overbite and tooth sticking out situation, and she actually said it would unethical for her to put on braces due to the extensive bone loss......in fact, she suggested I see a prosthodontist, but I know that the Perio work must be taken care of first (I presume).....now, I must act. I refuse to take pictures and feel as though I am robbing my children of photographic memories of their mother they would want to have after I leave this earth...
I have an insurance plan through my job, but a limited one, that requires "in network" professionals.
I am in need of a full evaluation, a consult and a written plan of action that should indicate the types of professionals that must be involved, who I need to see first and possible costs. I live in the Boston area. Please let me know who might be able to help me form a plan of action, as I am sure this will be a lengthy process....assuming I can save my teeth.....at this point, I am not so confident.

Dear R.When it comes to complex treatment planing, the Prosthodontist is usually the specialist that guides the treatment. The plan revolves around saving and restoring teeth -when possible- and/or involving other means of teeth replacement when necessary.
