Patient Review 1:

I first saw Dr Whiteman when his practice first opened after being referred by a friend. The practice, while small, is very modern and clean. I was very satisifed with him, but I never needed to have any work done and only required cleanings for the several years I saw him. I later moved to a different part of town, so I switched to a different dentist for convenience. After receiving questionable advice from that dentist, I went back to Dr Whiteman for a 2nd opinion, and he very diplomatically confirmed that some work did need to be done, although less extensive than was recommended by the other dentist. In the end, I had him do the work, since I felt more comfortable with him, and the outcome was good. It was a relatively quick and painless procedure, and I haven't had any problems since then. Overall, I highly recommend Dr Whiteman and his practice.

I am very happy that I've found Dr. Whiteman's clinic. Dr. Whiteman is exactly what I imagine an ideal doctor should be. He is extremely knowledgeable, doesn't recommend something unnecessary, and when performing work he seems to be super-careful and strives for perfection. He uses up-to-date dental technology and practices, which is also very important.

I have been seeing Dr. Whiteman for about 2 years, and I would strongly recommend him to anyone seeking dental care. Dr. Whiteman and his staff (receptionist and hygienists) are professional, knowledgeable, caring and responsive. They all work to put you at ease and explain every procedure ahead of time. The office itself is comfortable, easy to get to and utilizes the latest technology. The technology is not a gimmick, however. It is there to improve the quality and efficiency of Dr. Whiteman's work and is only a help, not a distraction. I found the receptionist very helpful with respect to scheduling and insurance matters. All in all, Dr. Whiteman is an excellent, warm and sensitive dentist, and I highly recommend him.

Dr. whiteman...great dentist. honest, thoughtful, efficient, and most importantly...pain-free injection. also appreciated that he was not pushy regarding cosmetic dentistry. lastly, front desk clerk...attentive, friendly, and welcoming. appreciated call back post visit. all in all, one of the best dental visits i've ever had.

I had not seen a dentist in many years because of fear, not of any possible pain but fear of being judged and shamed for neglecting my teeth for so long. One fine day I stumbled across Dr. Oogle's website and read the glowing reviews for Dr. Whiteman and his staff. I was most impressed with the statement that the office believes in a non-judgmental approach and they don't care how long it has been or how bad one's teeth are but they are here to help and are willing to work at the patient's pace to restore him/her to dental health. It was way past time so I took the plunge, made the call and almost immediately realized this dental practice is one amazing place. All my fears vanished and now I actually look forward to visiting the dentist.

I've never been as happy with a dental clinic as I have with Dr. Whiteman and his staff. Everything is calculated up front, so there are no surprises on either end. The procedures have all turned out very well. My schedule requests have always been accomodated and I really appreciate having someone calling me afterwards to see how I was feeling post-procedure. Also, whenever I have any questions regarding a procedure/treatment, I always get an honest answer.

Dr. Whiteman has helped me to fix my teeth following many years of poor dental hygiene. I came to him to repair a broken tooth, which required a root canal. Despite my fears, the procedure was virtually painless, including the anesthetic shots. Several fillings were done, all of which looked so natural that Dr. Whiteman himself could not tell them apart during subsequent examinations a few months later.

Dr. Whiteman epitomizes the kind of doctors that are hard to find these days. He cares about what his patients are going through, both physically and emotionally. Both he and all of his staff are courteous, competent, professional, and take pride in their work. The facilities are always clean, modern, and inviting. In addition to all of the above, Dr. Whiteman stays on top of the latest literature on dental techniques and attempts to translate new knowledge into better treatments for his patients. I have lived in Boston/Brookline for over 8 years, this is the first time that I am truly happy with my dentist. Having originally come from Russia my teeth needed a lot of work and by now I had Dr. Whiteman take care of several fillings, a root canal, a crown, a chipped tooth and a number of bi-annual cleanings. All the work has been absolutely top class and the attitude of everyone working in his office is extremely pleasant and courteous. Dr. Whiteman does an amazing job of keeping his patients informed about options for treatment and while working on your teeth makes sure to explain what he is doing and why. He goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable during any procedure. The one time that I did have a tooth "emergency" while traveling he managed to work me into his schedule the very day I came back to Boston. I have recommended him to my friends, and my wife now switched to Dr. Whiteman's office after seeing how happy I am with my experience there.

Finding a good dentist is about as hard as finding a good car mechanic and obviously having a good doctor/dentist is a hell of a lot more important. As long as I am in MA I will continue as a patient in Dr. Whiteman's practice, hopefully now just for cleanings.

Upon closer inspection/evaluation, he determined that I did not need the (more expensive) root canal, and he gave me that good news and proceeded to do a filling instead. Ive been a patient of Dr. Whitemans for three years. After a really painful experience elsewhere in Coolidge Corner, I was in the market for a new dentist. I asked a bunch of friends who they used and liked. They all recommended Dr. Whiteman. Im so thankful they did. Hes skillful, gentle, and an all around nice guy. Dr. Whiteman is the best dentist I have ever encountered in all my long years. I had neglected my teeth for many years because I dreaded the dentist but an abcess forced me into going. Dr. Whiteman is extremely professional, knowledgeable, skilled, respectful, interesting and funny. He is considerate of his patient's comfort to the point of adjusting the overhead light so that it is not glaring in ones eyes. I had what he described as common issues but a lot of them: cosmetic crowns on 4 of my front teeth, extractions of broken teeth, implants and more crowns. It has been almost 2 yrs and I have great teeth now - natural looking and more importantly, fully functional. No pain including injections. He is just terrific. I can't really compare him to other dentists since I hadn't seen one in so many years, but he is technically proficient, much nicer than any I remember and probably no more expensive than any other good dentist. I recommend him highly - never thought I'd say this but I like going to the dentist and I love my dentist. He's mine for life!

About Hygienist: All of the staff are terrific. As with patients, Dr Whiteman treats them with a great deal of respect and they respond in kind. The atmosphere is professional and relaxed but very efficient and every person in the group is a pleasure to work with. This is a wonderful team approach and a wonderful model for any business.

Dr Whiteman has a pleasant personality. He did his best and succeeded in saving my tooth -- the same tooth that was condemned for extraction by my previous dentist (part of a chain group). The infection was serious, but he was confident that it could be saved. In the end, I had a root canal without the need for a crown, thus saving me some money (Dr. Whiteman was not in my Dental plan coverage!). He knows what he's doing. I got to keep a copy of the x-ray of all my teeth... why aren't all dental offices this professional? The patient pays for the X-rays, but is deprived of a copy. Bottom line: professional and honest!

The staff are pleasant as well, and work with Dr. Whiteman as a well-organized team.

I saw Dr. Whiteman for fillings, the replacement of a crown, and fitting for a night guard. He never failed to be polite, courteous, and upbeat. So were his hygienists. They, of course, did good work all the while maintaining the easy-to-be-around atmosphere. The office's technology made for interesting explanations of what was going on in my mouth. Upon moving from the area, the office assistant emailed me my x-rays in case I needed them in an emergency.

Dr. Whiteman and co have figured it all out. There are plenty of qualified dentists with top-notch facilities in the area, but these guys here add something more. Something simple, but more and more rare these days. Customer service! I have to say I was beside myself when I got a follow up call from Hieu to ask how my teeth were feeling after my first appt there. So simple and easy for her to make that call! Yet it made a HUGE difference in how I viewed my overall experience. Not only that but I got off the phone and proceeded to tell all my co-workers what just happened. everyone was equally shocked. This tells you how bad it really is and the level of customer service we've allowed ourselves to accept as the norm. Other dentists, doctors, car repairmen, (everyone really) should take note! This is how it's done if you want repeat business and good buzz. Word of mouth is where it's at and Whiteman has paired a great dental practice with incredible customer care - great recipe for success. Go see!

Pleasant is not a word one tends to apply to dental experiences; even uneventful visits don't tend to rate better than "ok" for the simple reason that having someone dig around your mouth just isn't that great. But pleasant is exactly the word I want to use for my dental appointment.

I got one filling and two "seals" (which prevented potential cavities from forming). The Novocaine shots were painless and didn't make my entire face numb. The work was painless, quick, and thorough. The doctor used this laser tool I'd never seen before, and I'm not sure what it was for, but since the whole procedure went quick and painless I'm giving it points.

In a thoughtful gesture, the doctor gave me something to hold my mouth open for the second half so my jaw wouldn't get so tired. That was characteristic of the whole experience: thoughtful and efficient.

The receptionist called me a few hours later to make sure the procedure went ok. The follow up: my teeth shifted slightly as they sometimes do in dental work and my retainer stopped fitting. I called them two days later and they fit me in the same day, adjusted the retainer at no cost and sent me on my way.

Every time I've been there, even the first, the receptionist greeted me by name.

During a routine cleaning visit, Dr Whiteman suggested that the eroded pits in my teeth were caused by acid reflux (which was undiagnosed at the time). My primary care doctor was skeptical, but ordered an upper GI test that confirmed Dr. Whiteman's suspicion and led to a successful treatment of my condition. This kind of above-average care, combined with a friendly office atmosphere (really, this place stands out in Boston!), have made me recommend Dr. Whiteman's practice to many of my friends. None have been disappointed.

Can't say anything about cost (insurance has covered everything thus far) and the facilities, while nothing spectacular, are quite comfortable.

Dr. Whiteman is very patient, straight-forward and will explain what is going on in simple, but non-patronizing manner.

Hieu, the pretty woman who works the front desk, is organized and efficient.

The hygienists are also courteous and polite and do a good job. The procedures seem to be a bit expensive, as some of the normal cavity fillings and mouth guards are very expensive and they don't seem to use procedures that are most covered by your insurance- thus, greater out-of-pocket expense for you. Overall, a good experience, even if it seems a bit expensive.

Outstanding dental practice - nice facility with great equipment (digital xrays to minimize radiation exposure, etc.), excellent customer service, very nice folks who are very skilled at their job. Front desk is flexible re: scheduling mechanism (phone, email), and sends email reminder, as well as the traditional snail mail reminders. Dentist is wonderful, not pushy about procedures/high-bill "extras." Last year, when my parents were visiting, my father broke a bridge - they saw him on an emergency basis and took wonderful care of him. I don't honestly know how the prices compare, but they seem completely reasonable, so I have no complaints (it didn't seem fair to rate them as a 5 when I don't really know the comparison).

About Hygienist: Hygenist is excellent, has wonderful chair-side manners, and either has a great memory or very detailed records of prior visits (from the toothbrush/toothpaste you use to books that you recommend, etc.).

From the moment I called the office to make my first appointment at Whiteman Dental, I felt well taken care of. Hieu, the receptionist at the front desk was quick to accomodate my unpredictable schedule (I am a stay at home mother and my schedule revolves around my sitter's availability, which can make scheduling appointments very difficult).I was able to get an appointment quickly and at a time that worked for me.Once I arrived at my appointment, Dr.Whiteman was friendly and professional. I experienced no pain as he filled my two cavities and prepped my tooth for a permanent crown.This is saying a lot because I am curently 5 months pregnant, and I can never seem to get comfortable these days! Furthermore, I had a potenial dilemma on my hands earlier this week when my temporary crown broke and I couldn't find a sitter to watch my daughter.Hieu and Dr. Whiteman were extremely accomodating and invited me bring my two year old to the appointment,.Hieu assured me that she would entertain my daughter while I had my crown replaced.Fortunately, my daughter sat calmly in her stroller while Dr. Whiteman worked on my tooth, but it was nice to know that Hieu was there if I needed her.I highly recommend this dental practice!

From Hieu, the office manager, Heather, the woman who worked on my teeth, to Dr. Whiteman, I couldn't have imagined a better experience. They are professional, friendly and well-trained. Dr. Whiteman treated me with respect and honesty. Heather performed a great cleaning although I had not visited a dentist for a few years. Hieu is the MVP among an all-star team. She juggled appointments to get me in for a check-up and cleaning before their well-deserved holiday vacation. I will return for a crown placement in the new year and have the utmost confidence in Dr. Whiteman's skill and expertise.

I have only one minor complaint - they had a new technician performing the x-rays. The more experienced one (I don't remember her name) was outstanding. I am sure that under the guidance of the staff the new technician will be as competant as her mentor.

Dr. Whiteman provides excellent dental services: his staff is friendly, engaging, helpful and good at what they do. He is a very, very good dentist: concerned about patient's comfort throughout procedures, very good with a needle and drill, and so far -cavities filled, crown, and a tooth extraction- all have turned out well.

The office is small, modern, very efficient and completely computerized. The front desk takes care of insurance, billing, fabulous customer service, etc.

I have been going to dentists for 50+ years (have many crowns and bridges) in many different cities and put Whiteman Dental Clinic and Dr. Whiteman in the top tier I have seen.

I've been to see Dr. Whiteman twice in the last year. I've only had basic x-rays and cleaning thus far, though I will be having a cavity filled in the near future. What makes this dental practice exceptional is the extremely personable nature of both Dr. Whiteman and his staff, and the peristent follow-up! I keep a very busy work schedule, and have had to cancel an appointment in the past- Dr. Whiteman's office has followed up by email, phone, and postcard to re-schedule me and remind me when I'm due for an appointment, and even when last minute openings become available. Were it not for their persistence, I'm sure I would have not kept up with my dental care this past year. If you are someone who seeks a friendly and accommodating dental office, this is the place for you! Dr. Whiteman and Hieu (at the front desk) are great.

Two months back, one of my front teeth broke from the root by accident. I need a root canal and a crown (core and post in the middle of the whole process, which I don't know by prior). I finally decide to visit Dr. Whiteman's office because he is the highest scored dentist in this website. Although this review score partially due to the good patient relationship they maintain (I got an email from Hieu about the review), but I have no doubt that I am very happy with their service and would like to give a positive review.

BTW, I did not mark treatment success to be the highest since only time can tell if my root canal and crown was successfully treated. Cosmetic result is not hollywood smile because of my other teeth are not perfect. :>)

Cost wise, they are not in metlife or delta dental PPO network, so it will cost more in general.

Dr. Whiteman seems very good at multiple major dental process, includes root canal, which purprised me. So I did not go to other specialist. He is the best I have ever seen to make patient painless. He ever said that he treats patient as the way he will treat his mom and friend. I were very touched.

Hieu is the best lady you can expect in the front desk at a dental office.

It is such a relief to find a good dentist. The quality of service from all the staff is very high, from administration to patient care. The facilities are top notch, and very high tech. I especially like the attention to detail in regards to the comfort level of the patient. I have never felt so little discomfort during dental procedures. Also, Dr. Whiteman himself is very good at explaining procedures and alleviating patient anxiety. As a final plus they do a good job helping with managing the insurance company.

Dr.Whiteman has grasped up-to-date dental technology and he applied it very skillyfully to my front teeth root canal and bonding. I had dentists before and I knew they couldn't be a match to Dr. Whiteman in terms of the skills and technology. I knew the big contrast on my teeth before and after Dr. Whiteman's work. I love my front teeth very much and now I wear a big smile baring my front teeth. Dr. Whiteman is very friendly with his sweet smile and very patient and professional with his work. That is also why I went all the way to Brookline from Rhode Island for him because it is worth the trip.

Also, I like the diverse staff in Dr. Whiteman's clinic. I think the front desk has done an amazing job, always timely reminding me of my appointment , explaining every procedure clearly and patiently, being very considerate and compassionate.

The only person I like in this office is Dr. Whiteman. He is nice and patient, very precise. But the office manager is pushy, the front desk is not friendly to me. My teeth cleaning there was a painful memory. And one of dental assistant is not experienced, I feel very unconfortable when she was assisting Dr. Whiteman. I felt like I was offering her training/practice opportunity. They basically keep every appointment on time and replies emails promptly. So waiting time is short. But the bad part of it is: if some day the Doctor's schedule runs late, you might have to schedule another appointment if you have additional questions. They are not always patient and everything seems strickly runs by the schedule. So if you have more questions than you expected, you'd better be prepared.

Because of the unplesant experience with the staffs overthere, although I still think Dr. Whiteman is a very good dentist, I am thinking about quitting this office. Because you know, good experience is a overall thing, is not only with the dentist. If someone from a dental office makes you feel unconfortable all the time, why do you want to return to that office?

Every patient is different. I have very, very sensitive teeth, and my childhood dentist was a horrible. "We're almost through..." he'd say, as he drilled away, laughing, lightning flashing.

Dr. Whiteman is fantastic. His procedures and check-ups are very gentle. He knew I had sensitive teeth, and adjusted his anaesthetic accordingly. The assistants are on par with Dr. Whiteman; very gentle, very accomodating. Overall a surprisingly great experience. More like getting your hair cut than going to a dentist.

I have thought about finding a job outside of Boston. And, I know this sounds odd, but I'm second guessing myself just because I know I'll have to find another dentist, and I know that I won't find one as professional as Dr. Whiteman.

Five stars. Highly recommended.

Dr. Whiteman is excellent. I went to him because of positive reviewes on Dr. Oogle, and am glad I did. He was the first dentist to note that I was grinding my teeth (I'm religious about going to the dentist), and once I had my nightguard it was very evident that he was right. I did so much damage to this nightguard in 2 yrs that he is now making me a new one, free of charge. His manner is pleasant, and he always goes through the xrays with me so I know what he's looking for and why. He always checks in and looks in my mouth even if I'm there just for a cleaning, and I feel very comfortable in his office. His staff is great, and can contact me by cell and email without any problem.

I have been raised to fear the dentist both from experience and hearsay. I have therefore avoided dentists at all costs, that is until I heard about Dr. Whiteman. When I arrived for my first appointment I was pleased with the good nature of the receptionist and the comfortable decor and magazine selection in the wait room, but I have never waited long enough to even pick up a magazine. When I got to meet Dr. Whiteman and discuss cavity treatment he made me feel very comfortable with his sense of humor and very friendly and non-condescending nature. When having my cavities fixed I could not believe that I wasn't feeling a thing. The entire experience (even the Novocaine shot) was painless)-- I felt like I could fall asleep in the chair. The most amazing thing about Dr. Whiteman is that both times I want to have cavities fixed, he also fixed other cosmetic things for free. I had a chip in my front tooth and a discolored old filling that he fixed and it totally transformed my smile. I am forever grateful. I could not imagine a better dantist. If I ever move out of Boston I may have to travel to Dr. Whiteman because there can't be another Dentist I would want to touch my teeth.

This is a long overdue thank-you for you seeing me on such short notice last fall when we were in the Boston area. We were preparing to take a cruise with our daughter (your patient, Amy) when I felt the 3 tooth bridge in front of my mouth seemed loose.

You worked me into your schedule the afternoon of the same day we called, which just happened to be the only day available. I was concerned that the bridge not come out while we were on the cruise, and at the time I presumed to was just loose. You examined it and gave me some assurance that it would not "fall out" before I could return to Topeka and my own dentist.

By way of an update, the attachment tooth on one side of the bridge had broken and it has now been replaced with a 6 tooth bridge. I must admit, this one seems much more stable than the previous one did.

I just received your Dental News & Views and wanted to again express my appreciation for the services you rendered to me on an emergent basis. I cannot tell you how comforting it was to have a professional opinion to calm my concern.

I was eating a cookie and, before I knew it, I was eating 1/3 of a tooth. Serves me right since I hadn't been to a dentist in nearly a decade.

I found Dr. Whiteman on the internet and asked for an emergency appointment. Even though the doctor didn't know me, he fit me in immediately.

Dr. Whiteman was professional and kind. As soon as he gave me the Novocaine, I knew I was in good hands - literally.

Since then, I've had my teeth cleaned by Heather, the hygienist there. She was friendly and clearly knew her job. Moreover, after the cleaning, Heather and Dr. Whiteman conferred on the state of my teeth. Watching the interaction, it was obvious that they respected each other. This is important because one professional, no matter how good, can make a mistake. Two good people who communicate are less likely to do so.

The final verdict was that my broken tooth needed a root canal. Not a surprise and, while expensive, the procedure was completely painless. I had another tooth with a brown dot, which was a stain in an old filling. The doctor said it could be fixed and, without any prompting, told me the fix would be purely cosmetic. When I elected to leave it alone, the subject was dropped. The other teeth are good.

I found his practice through this website and have cant fault him on any front.(I wasnt happy with my previous dentist though). Even though hes not in my insurance group I have stayed with him because I found him to be so good. At one point I went to another dentist to compare prices and there was not much in it - however the other dentist advised I needed crowns - Dr Whiteman explained to me why that wasnt nescessary and only fillings were needed.

On another tooth I had a crown and root canal treatment done(cracked tooth and old large filling went to nerve) and I had absolutley zero pain ever. Dr Whitman explains everything and answers all questions-he never shows any signs of impatients and seems to enjoy providing patients the best possible standards of care and treatment and inspires complete confidence in him.

Just try him once and you will see! Unfortunatly I am leaving the states and will have to find a different dentist now.

I went there for my initial cleaning, parking was fine as there was plenty of on street parking (just make sure you bring change for the meters) I did end up waiting a bit for the hygienist supposedly they had and emergency come in right before me...Once I was in everything went smoothly, they took a ton of x-rays which I told them I just had x-rays but they said they like to take them anyway. The cleaning went well and the hygienist was very nice. They are not covered under my ins. plan as they are considered out of network so it was a bit more than I expected to pay but I assume it was in the ballpark if I were to go somewhere else. I had to go back to have Dr. Whiteman fill a tooth all was well and pain free :)

dr whiteman was referred to me by a dental implant rep when i described to him that i was looking for a newer office, with up to date procedures and relaxing office setting. the entire staff is very accomodating and friendly. i receive emails from hieu even if my appointment needs to be moved by 10 minutes. she even handles all of the insurance forms so all you have to do is pay, then a check shows up in the mail a week later. i have never had to wait more than a few minutes in the waiting room so dont plan on finishing any magazine articles. dr whiteman is friendly and is sure to explain exactly what he plans on doing.

i would have no issues with recommending dr whiteman and his staff to anyone needing routine cleanings or more complicated procedures

I was unhappy with my previous dentist and found Dr. Whiteman as the top guy on this site. I was impressed with his high-tech facilities and the professionalism of his staff. This is what a dentist in 2007 should be doing - you other guys - you need to check out this dude's place!

It made me a touch nervous when he dropped a tool during my procedure and it clattered on the hard floor, but that was my only criticism. He seems like a funny, easy-going guy. I referred a friend and got a $50 credit that I'll put toward an extra 3 month cleaning - that policy is great!

I had a toothache about two years ago, and I called Dr. Whiteman's office. They scheduled an appointment for me right away. The office is very calming and clean, and well-designed. Dr. Whiteman is very charming and personable and with his hi-tech xrays which project onto a computer monitor, the cause of my toothache was diagnosed immediately. It wasn't anything major, but now I go to him for all my check-ups and cleanings. Dr. Whiteman is very gentle and his dental assistants all do a very thorough job with the cleanings, and his staff is so nice! Doctor Whiteman and his staff are great! They make you feel comfortable by being friendly and efficient in the office. Dr. Whiteman is quick during examinations and very thorough in explaining every thing he is doing. I recently had a cavity filled and was out of the office in 45 minutes and had no pain during or after the procedure. The cost is reasonable and they seem willing to do whatever they can to help you. The billing process can be done electronically and they run as a completely paperless office. The hygienists are polite and very experienced. The general feel in the office is welcoming and warm. I've been very unhappy with all the dentists (3) I've had in Boston and was about to resort to driving all the way back to my hometown dentist in CT when I stumbled upon the Dr. Oogle site. I was impressed with the reviews for Dr. Whiteman and his staff and decided to give them a try. I've had a cleaning, a filling and a root canal (so, a total of 4 visits so far). I have been so impressed with the professionalism and courtesy and friendliness of his staff, and Dr. Whiteman is by far the best dentist I have ever had. He is thorough, meticulous, very talented and has excellent bedside manner. He is genuinely concerned that I was as comfortable as possible, and extremely attentive and concerned about any pain I might be feeling. And as if that isn't enough, I was very impressed with how modern the facility is and was literally awestruck that I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes after arriving before being called in. Also, Hieu (at the front desk) is very reliable and very responsive both by phone and by e-mail. I have been recommending Dr. Whiteman to everyone I know! Seriously, you will leave thinking, "Who ARE these people?"

Dr. Whiteman is a great dentist. Him along with his staff are very skilled and get the job done quickly, and with very little pain. This is all coming from a 13 year old, and I just visited them earlier today. They did a cleaning and a lot of other stuff. It felt as if I were there for maybe 5 minutes, and it ended up being like 40 minutes. The people who worked there comforted me, and made good conversation. Even the person who manages patients at the front desk was extremely friendly. This is the best dentist place I have ever gone to. I would highly suggest him to everyone. I found this site because, new to the area, I happened into a BAD dentist. First the filling was too deep, then he 'just did' a root canal on me. He did that poorly and I was a vicodin swilling, crying mess for a week. Then he did part 2 which was, almost unbelievably, worse! I don't know anyone here so this site and your honest reviews gave me the nerve to call Dr Whiteman's office. Actually, I emailed. Just to see. Heung, the office goddess, emailed me within hours. Told me she passed on my message AND DR WHITEMAN EMAILED ME THAT NIGHT! Well, color me impressed. I shot back a response with a zillion questions and HE ANSWERED ME AGAIN! So I made my appointment for a consultation.

Everyone at the office is friendly and clearly competent. The place bustles, and yet you never feel rushed. I came back for the redo of my root canal and it was almost $200 less than a quote I received from someone who didn't put me so at ease. I didn't choose on 'likeability', i chose on ability. Dr Whiteman has all the latest equipment and uses it. Digital videos showed clearly why I still had problems. His superlative dental skills are why I no longer have problems.

Everyone is right!. I highly, highly and confidently recommend this office. Go!

I am a physician, and have seen many health care providers and office practices. I was very impressed with Dr. Whiteman and his entire staff -- I walked in with an unanticipated problem late on a snowy day, a new patient who had not yet been seen. I needed a procedure urgently, and Dr. Whiteman and the staff made a sober diagnosis, and then stayed late to take care of me. The procedure was remarkably painless and successful. He took the time to talk with me about the procedure for every bit of work I needed, and helped me fully understand what was going on. He was extremely gentle, and very aware of how I was feeling during whatever work he was doing at the time, so much so that I rarely, if ever, felt any pain at all. EXCEPTIONAL dental experience from my first conversation with Hieu (helping me out with my tricky schedule and insurance questions) to my appointment with Dr. Whiteman. I really feel that he took his time with me, discussed all of my options (pros and cons), listened and advised me accordingly. It is not like my PCP appointments that are so rushed. VERY thorough care noted. I had a barely noticeable boney density found years ago on a dental exam. No dentist has since commented on this until I went to Dr. Whiteman. He did not miss anything, taking the time to evaluate the films and soft tissue thoroughly. He called his oral cancer screening "routine" but I have found this not to be very routine in other practices. Kudos to Dr. Whiteman.

I have been somewhat neglectful of my teeth and I needed to go to a new dentist since my previous dentist didn't make me feel very comfortable with the work/bedside manner etc. My friend recommended her dentist so I went there. I didn't expect to feel as happy about it as i did. You can just tell that this guy knows his stuff. I liked that he was very fact based and didn't make me feel like I'm an idiot for having problems with my teeth. The staff was actually pleasant (unlike my medical doctors office!). Dr. Whiteman and his staff are simply amazing! They're incredibly friendly and accomodating, and they really go the extra mile for their patients.

For example, between my last implant surgery and when my final crowns were ready, there was a period of about 2 months where I would have gone without any teeth at the implant sites, but they spent their own time and energy in making temporary crowns for me (without charging extra!) just so that I wouldn't be as self-conscious during that period of time.

Also, I really got the sense from my appointments that they cared, not only about my teeth, but also about me and how my teeth affected my life. They really understood what I was going through and tried their best to make the process as painless and pleasant as possible.

The end result was simply amazing, and I just cannot thank Dr. Whiteman and his staff enough!

Dr. Whiteman's office is totally high-tech. BEST of all are the digital xrays. This means LOW radiation. I have always feared and avoided regular xrays. But now - I am more comfortable with my dental exams!! Also, the office staff is very nice and helpful.

I had a terrible fake tooth thing that I kept in to make as if i wasn't missing any teeth. finally when i decided to upgrade my teeth i went to whiteman dental associates for my dentistry based on a friend's recommendation. I couldn't be happier with the results. First Dr. Whiteman made a new fake tooth thing that fit WELL!! and looked MUCH better than my old one. When the implants were finally done it was so natural. nowbody knows i have implants at all. Everything was explained to me from beginging to end. I have no reservations recommending this office for your dental work. everyone was great.

Dr. Whiteman gives the most natural porcelain veneers in the entire world!!!! I am THRILLED beyond belief with the results. I have needed veneers for a few years but was too scared to do it but I gave my vote to Dr Whiteman because I was so happy with the other dental procedures he did and was hoping I would also be happy with the veneers. I went to 3 dentists who thought I needed a root canal. Since they "were not sure", I decided to get one more opinion. That's when I met Dr. Whiteman. After taking xrays and examining my mouth, he said I did not need a root canal. As I viewed my xray on a computer monitor from my chair, Dr. Whiteman explained the problem and his suggested plan. After his work, my teeth are perfect. He is the best dentist I ever had. Even though he is over an hour drive from my house, he is well worth it!

Dr. Whiteman and his staff are dental professionals who go above and beyond others. I had a root canal and they made my experience as comfortable as possible. Dr. Whiteman took the time to explain the procedure in detail and reassures you of most of the steps along the way. There is even a video you can watch right above your chair should you be unclear. Remember, it is your month and your money so you deserve to have all of your questions answered. Dr. Whiteman and staff are easy going, approachable, and friendly which puts any questions to rest and makes you a more knowledgeable patient. This is a group of people that make you feel right at home. I have a measure of anxiety going to the dentist and Dr.Whiteman`s confidence during the procedure puts my worries to rest. They have a sense of humor which breaks the ice. A follow up call to see how I was doing was the icing on the cake that reassured me that this is a dentist who I can trust and makes me feel better.

Dr. Whiteman is a high quality ethical dentist who I would highly recommend. My former dentist put a triple crown on my aching teeth telling me nothing was wrong. Under that triple crown, Dr Whiteman found an absessed tooth, a tooth with bone loss, & an absessed root. Dr. Whiteman diagnosised all these problems by taking the first xrays I ever had without pain, skill & judgement that comes with experience. He sent me to a(fantastic) oral surgeon, although he could have pulled the tooth himself (and made $) but he felt I should have it done by a surgeon who had just the right expertise. Then he created a fantastic realistic, temporary bridge for me that is visable and it fits like a glove. He took time and care with me, always explaining the procedure, and always making sure I felt no pain. He answered my endless questions with patience. He was kind and compassionate. His office staff, Karen & Dallas were incredible in helping me get immediate appointments, coordinate insurance, and explain procedures to me. They are wonderful. Dr. Whiteman is now my new dentist forever. I recommend him highly. He treats you like you are a member of his family. Thank you DR WHITEMAN

I am really a dentistophobic person. It takes me ages to decide to go and having my mouth checked. Being new in Boston, it took me quite a while to get into the idea of having a check-up. I read the reviews for Dr. Whiteman on this board and decided to give him a chance. Never has a decision like that been so good for me.

Very nice people, cleaning done as I wanted (not as they wanted) and the succesive treatments were aboslutely painless. He has state of the art equipment, he uses it (quite important factor) and he really has a "feather hand". Moreover, his assistant(s) are also trained very well and everybody seems very competent.

They dealt with all insurance things, thus making everything very smooth and easy for me.

My idea of going back to my dentist in Europe are now well forgotten.

So, at the end of the day, if you hate dentists as I do, give Dr. Whiteman a try. You'll thank me.

I am a professional who knows the value of intervening when necessary. I had not been to a dentist in years, until one of my teeth started to really hurt. I walked into a dental office downtown and was told that I needed close to $8000 in dental work ! Needless to say, I decided to get a second opinion, which I did from Dr. Whiteman. First of all, Dr. Whiteman's approach to pain is marvelous. He immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. You just get a good feeling about someone - I felt I could trust him. Well....Dr. Whiteman told me I did not "need" anything major. His professional advice was worth its weight in gold. told me that he was fully booked until the end of the

day but they would do their best to have me seen. As

it turned out, the only time available to see me that

Dr. Whitemans office is the best. They are so professional and helpful. They really go the extra mile for their patients. I had such problems with a mistake in my dental insurance coverage. The insurance company refused to pay for some of my dental services because of an insurance processing mistake. Karen at Dr. Whitemans office assured me that she would do what she could to help resolve this matter. After 3 months of going back and forth with the insurance company, I was ready to forget it and basically write it off as one huge loss. Karen refused however and I am glad she did. Not long after that I got my reimbursement from the insurance company. My wife and I are dedicated patients of Dr. Whiteman and his staff.

I procrastinated going to the dentist for so long because basically I hate the dentist! I ended up with a painful swelling that I could no longer live with. I think I was more nervous about being scolded like a child by some know-it-all dentist than I was of the pain I might have been in for. I've never had a cavity, so my only claim of expertise in rating Dr. Whiteman is that I've been going to a dentist every six months since I can remember. I have, however, been grinding my teeth since I was a child, and I now have tiny cracks in them as a result. He suggested that I get a mouthguard at some point, but let me know that they were expensive and that it wasn't critical that I get one immediately. I was skeptical because I've had dentists fit me with these before, and they could never make them comfortable enough for me to use more than a few days. Regardless, I saved up my money and got one from Dr. Whiteman. Because he made it himself, he was able to readjust it several times while I waited. Now I have an extremely comfortable mouthguard that I wear religiously.

He amazingly combines the personality of a fun person that I would hang out with and an expertise that is galaxies beyond any dentist I've been to. Karen is awesome to talk to while my partner gets his teeth cleaned/ filled. They make me wish I could go to the dentist more often. You will look forward to every visit, regardless of your oral health.

I have been a dentalphobic for my entire life and had not been to a dentist since the early 1980s. This year I have needed to attend to some matters that I could not ignore any longer. I used this board to find dentists in my area, and Dr. Whiteman was one of the few who took the time to reply to my initial email. He was most comforting and understanding and told me to please call at any time. Initial consultation was more in the same warm, informative, friendly manner; I left much less scared but still anxious. Today I had my first root canal and my phobia is COMPLETELY GONE now; I am even looking forward to my upcoming visits. I had absolutely NO PAIN during the procedure and felt quite relaxed (I didn't fall asleep but could easily see how I might in subsequent visits!)

The doctor's staff is just as exemplary; they greet you warmly, personally and whenever they phone they always ask how you are feeling and how your tooth or teeth are, and remind you to phone if you have an emergency and need immediate help. Karen was quite helpful in getting me information from my insurance company so I could have an idea about pricing and payments.

These are wonderful people, worth a lot more than what they charge.

I am new to town and unfortunately visited another dentist last week who did a basic cleaning and told me that I had 2 cavities and that I need to visit his office 4 more times to do a deep-scaling of all my teeth. The cost of this unnecessary procedure would have been so expensive. I was terrified and thought something must be wrong because I have my teeth regularly cleaned every 6 months and have not had any major problems. Luckily I called up Dr. Whiteman and he was able to schedule an appointment for me almost immediately. He looked at my teeth and told me that all I needed was a sealant on only 1 tooth. Over the years, I have seen many dentists for my periodontitis. Dr. Whiteman has consistently provided me with the most comprehensive care and done so without causing pain! He has probed my gum pockets, given me deep cleanings, and applied cutting-edge therapy such as antibiotics directly into my gum pockets.

He is always professional and gentle. His facilities are the best I've seen --- even the x-rays are digital so radiation is minimal!

I wish I'd found him earlier --- my gum pockets have gone from 6 mm to 3-4 mm!
